NOW OPEN IN SINGAPORE - PRESS RELEASE

Langley Alloys, whose headquarters are in Newcastle-under-Lyme, UK, has opened an office in Singapore. Following strong export success and feedback from the local market, the new company, Langley Alloys (S.E. Asia) Pte Ltd, has been set up to service the South East Asian engineering industry - particularly the offshore oil and gas industry.

The company is a leading supplier of corrosion-resistant alloys, including the world's strongest superduplex alloy, FERRALIUM 255^®, - an alloy originally developed by Langley Alloys Ltd - extensively used for down-hole components. A full range of other superduplex and duplex grades are also supplied, as well as the anti-galling copper-nickel HIDURON 130, widely used for sub-sea connectors and valves.

Initially, the Singapore company will offer products from its UK and US facilities, including bar, plate and pipe. But it will soon hold strategic stocks in Singapore to improve on meeting customers' service expectations and to respond quickly to their changing demands.

Langley has appointed Sidhu Kamaljit as Commercial Manager in Singapore. He brings with him a wealth of metals industry experience having been involved in the local market for a number of years.

The opening of the Singapore office now gives Langley regional presence in the main oil and gas industry markets worldwide. In Autumn 2009, it expanded in North America by purchasing a well-known US stockist and distributor of high-strength corrosion resistant alloys National Metal Distributors Inc (NMD) of Vancouver, Washington State from Metals Technology Inc. Prior to acquisition, NMD had come to be a significant outlet for Langley Alloys' products in the USA, particularly for FERRALIUM.

In the UK, despite the prevailing economic climate, Langley Alloys Ltd has experienced recent year-on-year growth, expanding its supply backed by technical expertise, not only to the oil and gas industry, but for chemical processing, paper-making and defence industry applications.

Langley Alloys Aquire National Metals Dustribution Inc, USA

Langley Alloys are delighted to announce that in December 2009 they continued their expansion plans with the acquisition of National Metal Distributors Inc. (NMD), USA. Based in Vancouver, Washington State NMD will be used to expand sales into North America in sectors such as Offshore oil and gas.

Currently employing 7 staff, NMD will enhance the portfolio of products offered by the Langley Group, to include Super Duplex Bar, Plate, Pipe, Tube and Fittings. All are offered in all 3 grades of Super Duplex (S32550, S32760 and S32750).

Langley Alloys move into new distribution facility

Having outgrown their old manufacturing site in Stock-on-Trent, in September 2009 Langley Alloys invested to new customised premises in Newcastle-under-Lyme just a few miles away.

The new facility gives Langley Alloys a modern facility in which to house their extensive stocks and well equipped cutting facilities. The highly efficient layout will allow the business to grow while continuing to provide a competitive service.

Superduplex Centre of Excellence

Langley Alloys is becoming the UK's centre for stockholding supply and technical information for all three of the offshore grade 25%Cr superduplex stainless steels (S32550, S32760 and S32750) as well as the 22%Cr duplex stainless steels S31803 and S32205. As Langley first invented the first 25%Cr duplex stainless steel (FERRALIUM 255) and coined the term 'superduplex' in a publication issued in 1982, it is fitting that Langley has taken the decision to maximise on its long experience in the production and application of this type of material.

Nickel Alloy Stockholding

As a well-known supplier of corrosion resistant alloys, Langley Alloys is increasing its nickel alloys stock range to include 625 and 718. Langley's ability to manufacture the MONEL-type grades 400 and K-500 continues to enable it to maintain short lead time supplies, something which the larger mills are not always able to offer.

Rolls Royce Aerospace Approval

Langley Alloys has recently been given Rolls Royce Aerospace approval to manufacture and supply the MSRR8501 and MSRR8503 grades of bearing materials. This is appropriate in that the MSRR8501 alloy was derived from HIDUREL 5, an alloy developed by Langley during World War II for Spitfire engine bearings.
